Caffeine pouch shelf life and packaging

Caffeine pouch shelf life and packaging

Plan stability and packaging evaluation for caffeine pouches, including seals, barriers and opening conditions. Separate real-time and accelerated data.

Product and process concepts

Caffeine pouch stability testing

A study should connect the formula, contact bag and final retail pack to a proposed storage statement. Define conditions, timepoints, test methods and endpoints before the study starts. Caffeine pouch shelf life cannot be established by a photograph or a short sample round.

Moisture barrier caffeine pouch packaging

Assess the complete system: can material, closure, liner, additional barrier and opening cycle. A low-transmission component does not automatically establish the performance of an assembled pack. Check seal integrity and compatibility.

Include more than assay

  • Caffeine and other relevant ingredient content.
  • Sensory changes, caking, color or odor.
  • Pouch integrity, leakage and closure behavior.
  • Moisture and water activity where relevant.
  • Applicable microbiological and other project endpoints.

Distinguish study types

Real-time and accelerated results have different uses. An accelerated observation needs a justified relationship to the product and conditions before extrapolation. After-opening behavior may require a separate plan. Record what is known at each review date and what remains under study.

Project questions

What should I send for this review?

Send the target market, formula and pack version, the question you need answered and existing documents. Identify which values are proposed and which have already been approved.

Does this guide define an approved product specification?

No. Use the guide to prepare a project-specific review. Methods, acceptance criteria and responsibilities are agreed for the actual formulation, pack and market.
