Caffeine content and pouch uniformity

Caffeine content and pouch uniformity

Define caffeine content per pouch, label units, sampling and finished-product verification. Understand why a batch average does not prove uniformity.

Product and process concepts

Define caffeine content per pouch

State whether the specification is per pouch, per serving or per container. Give the unit in mg and identify every contributing source. A theoretical blend calculation and an analytical result answer different questions and should appear in separate records.

Caffeine pouch content uniformity

A pooled composite can estimate an average while concealing variation between units. Decide whether the risk requires individual-pouch testing, blend location samples, production-time samples or a justified combination. Record the sample count and position rather than writing only “passed.”

Review method suitability

  • Check extraction from the actual fill and contact material.
  • Assess selectivity against flavors and co-ingredients.
  • Use appropriate calibration, recovery and precision checks.
  • Define reporting units, uncertainty and result handling.

Investigate a mismatch

Check material assay basis, weighing, blend segregation, fill-weight variation and sampling before changing the formula. Retain the original result and document the investigation. Acceptance criteria must come from the applicable specification and project basis; there is no universal tolerance established by this guide.

Project questions

What should I send for this review?

Send the target market, formula and pack version, the question you need answered and existing documents. Identify which values are proposed and which have already been approved.

Does this guide define an approved product specification?

No. Use the guide to prepare a project-specific review. Methods, acceptance criteria and responsibilities are agreed for the actual formulation, pack and market.
